{"id":152692,"date":"2020-07-07T15:04:03","date_gmt":"2020-07-07T19:04:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nortonhealthcare.com\/?page_id=152692"},"modified":"2025-09-08T10:40:02","modified_gmt":"2025-09-08T14:40:02","slug":"visitor-policy","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/nortonhealthcare.com\/patient-resources\/visitor-policy\/","title":{"rendered":"Norton Healthcare Visitor Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nortonhealthcare.com\/patient-resources\/visitor-policy-es\"><em>Pol\u00edtica de visitantes de Norton Healthcare<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-important-information-for-all-visitors\">Important Information for All Visitors<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Please wear a mask if you:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Have a fever, cough, shortness of breath, headache or recent loss of taste and smell<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have tested positive for COVID-19 or been exposed to a person with COVID-19 within the past 10 days<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have recently been diagnosed with a respiratory illness<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Good hand hygiene is the best way to stop the spread of respiratory infections. Clean your hands often with soap and water or alcohol-based sanitizing gel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All adult hospital patients may have two visitors at a time, ages 2 and older. Any visitor under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sick people cannot visit or accompany patients.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If a visitor displays unsafe, threatening or aggressive behavior, appropriate measures will be taken to protect patients and staff. This behavior includes interfering with care (intentionally or unintentionally) and failing to comply with safety requirements, such as using personal protective equipment (PPE) and complying with hand hygiene.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-norton-healthcare-adult-service-facilities\">Norton Healthcare Adult-service Facilities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Adult-service Hospitals, Including Outpatient, Surgical and Emergency Departments<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Patients may have two visitors at a time, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mother-baby\/antepartum, and labor and delivery patients: Two visitors and the designated support person are welcome. Siblings ages 2 and older may visit; all other visitors must be over age 12.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>During labor and delivery, a properly credentialed doula also may be present as part of the care team.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Labor and delivery operating room: One support person may accompany the patient.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For patients in isolation:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Two visitors are welcome for most patients, including those in COVID-19 isolation.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>No guests can visit patients on constant aerosolization therapies, including BiPAP and Vapotherm breathing devices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All visitors must strictly follow personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines and remain in the patient\u2019s room throughout the visit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All visitors must leave the room during any aerosolization procedure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Compassionate exceptions for visitors will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All visitors must strictly follow personal protective equipment (PPE)\u00a0and hand hygiene requirements. Failure to do so may result in being asked to leave the facility. Staff is available to assist with PPE and hand hygiene education, if needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Doctors\u2019 Offices and Adult-service Outpatient Medical Centers, Including Norton Cancer Institute<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Two visitors may accompany the patient.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-norton-children-s-visitor-policy\">Norton Children\u2019s Visitor Policy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Patients Admitted to Norton Children\u2019s Hospital and Norton Women\u2019s &amp; Children\u2019s Hospital<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Up to two primary caregivers<\/strong>: Primary caregivers must be designated for the length of the patient\u2019s stay. They must be age 18 or older, unless they are the patient\u2019s parent\/guardian. Primary caregivers will be required to have their fingerprints registered in the visitor management system so they can access the unit and visit the child at any time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Secondary caregivers\/visitors<\/strong>: Up to four designated secondary caregivers\/visitors may visit between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. for the length of the child\u2019s hospital stay. Siblings ages 12 and older may be included.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Only two visitors are allowed at the patient\u2019s bedside at any one time. One must be age 18 or older.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Patients who are awaiting COVID-19 test results or who test positive for COVID-19 may have two designated visitors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A member of the clergy may be designated for the duration of the patient\u2019s stay and may visit between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Caregivers\/visitors will be required to complete a health screening form each day and receive a visitor pass for the day.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Compassionate exceptions for visitors will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Norton Children&#8217;s Medical Center (Emergency, Surgery, Testing)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Two visitors may accompany the patient.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Visitors must be over age 12 to accompany the patient.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Norton Children\u2019s Medical Group and Novak Center for Children\u2019s Health Medical Offices<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Two visitors may accompany the patient.
