Your developing baby also can have a condition that needs to be monitored before birth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Having the information gives you time to plan and get specialized care early, when it\u2019s likely to be most effective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your pregnancy can be considered complex for a number of reasons. Common conditions that affect the mother include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Carrying multiples, such as twins or triplets<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pregnant over age 35<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>High blood pressure, preexisting diabetes (Type 1 or Type 2), gestational diabetes, heart conditions, asthma or other chronic conditions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Obstetric complications such as premature labor or recurrent pregnancy loss<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An ultrasound may have detected an abnormality in your baby\u2019s development.
